Admissions

Peaceful Paddocks has been established to provide places for children who find it difficult to access mainstream education and who would benefit from spending time in nature taking part in ‘hands-on’ activities and working therapeutically with animals.

Peaceful Paddocks has a strongly inclusive ethos and welcomes all pupils who meet the admissions criteria.

We are committed to supporting vulnerable children and young people and will ensure we can meet their needs before they are offered a place.

A place will only be offered where there is a space, and where the pupil meets the criteria set out below:

  • Pupils will be aged between 5 and 18 years.

  • Students may be at risk of exclusion

  • Students are likely to have experienced school attendance issues, social, emotional or behavioural difficulties.

  • Some pupils may have an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).

  • Pupils may have learning difficulties and/or low attainment that are associated with their social, emotional, and mental health, communication and interaction needs.

  • Pupils may have specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, and dyscalculia.

  • Looked after Children (LAC)

Pupils admitted to Peaceful Paddocks will have been initially referred by their School or Local Authority (LA) or have an EOTAS package.

If, after reviewing the information provided, Peaceful Paddocks believes that the pupil meets the admission criteria and we can meet the child’s needs, arrangements will be made with the for the initial admissions process to start.

This includes:

  • A referral form is completed by the referrer

  • A meeting at Peaceful Paddocks, with the young person, support worker/mentor and/or parent(s)/carer(s) will take place to ensure that all parties are satisfied that Peaceful Paddocks can meet the needs of the young person. This includes any SEND outlined in an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

  • If Peaceful paddocks can meet need, we will contact the referrer directly.

Once all paperwork has been received from the referring agency and transport has been arranged an induction period for the child will be established.
