Horticulture at Peaceful Paddocks

Our therapeutic approach to horticulture and children centres on the belief that engaging with plants and nature fosters emotional, cognitive, and physical development. By involving children in hands-on gardening activities, we create a safe and supportive environment where they can nurture responsibility, patience, and mindfulness.

The process of planting, tending, and observing growth provides sensory stimulation and encourages curiosity, which enhances concentration and reduces anxiety. Horticulture also promotes social skills as children can work collaboratively, communicate, and share tasks within group settings.

We tailor activities to meet individual needs, recognising that each child’s interaction with nature is unique. Our methods integrate therapeutic goals with horticultural practices to support emotional regulation, self-esteem, and resilience. This holistic approach not only nurtures the plants but also cultivates the well-being of the children involved.
